COMPOSITION

Ruby is a variety of corundum, composed mainly of aluminum oxide (Alβ‚‚O₃). Its rich red color comes from the presence of chromium, which gives it its signature vibrant hue. The intensity of the red can vary depending on the amount of chromium, with the finest rubies displaying a deep, vivid pigeon blood red color.
