COMPOSITION

Pink sapphire is a variety of corundum, composed mainly of aluminum oxide (Alβ‚‚O₃). Its delicate pink color comes from trace amounts of chromium within the crystal structure. The higher the chromium content the more intense the color; although too much coloration can turn it to red in which turns it to Ruby.
